I can’t believe the final week of Summer Bible study is here. It went by fast didn’t it? This week’s post is aimed at reflecting on the eternal legacy left by Leah and how God is calling each of us to participate in His bigger story too. Although you won’t find the typical two or three points that were a trademark in the first six videos, you will find several Scripture verses and a direct application to your life.

The perspective this week offers is invaluable as we step outside of Leah’s story and begin to see how her life fits in the bigger picture of God’s story and His plan to bring Jesus into the world to save sinners. Just like Leah, each of our lives play a role in God’s bigger story too. So it’s important to always be looking around to see how He is at work in the people and places that surround us.

I am so excited that Summer Bible study kicks off this week! Today’s post is an introduction that will set the stage for the next six weeks as we study the life of one of my favorite biblical figures and work our way through my book Leah: Confessions of a First Runner-Up.

Over the next six weeks you will learn how to:

*Stop performing for the love and affection of other people.

*Quit comparing yourself to others and see value in being yourself.

*Discern between real love and a cheap imitation.

*Identify manipulative tactics and learn effective alternatives for communicating.

*Understand more about God’s unique calling on your life and begin living it out.

*Live a life that points others to Christ so you can leave a lasting legacy.  

Once you’ve watched the video please remember to comment so I know you’re studying about Leah alongside of me this summer. Feel free to ask questions or make observations about what you are learning . I love hearing from you!

But, I’ve come up with a solution that I hope will make many of you very happy. This summer I will teach a six-week Bible study via vlog on my blog using one of the True Life Bible study books. I’ll offer a special discount of $5 per book to all who want to participate (if you live overseas I will try to work with your on an affordable shipping option).  

This Bible study will launch in late June or early July but right now I’m trying to figure out which book to use so I can begin preparing (and so I can make sure I have enough copies of the book in stock). So, I’m asking you to vote. You can visit the Books section at my website and read about Leah, Hagar and Miriam and then come back here and cast your vote in the comments section.

Once we decide on a title I’ll come up with a discount code so you can purchase the book in advance. This is how the study will work: Each week you will do the homework in the book and then you will log on and watch the video at your convenience. The videos will go live every Tuesday but if you can’t watch them until Thursday, no sweat.

Some of you may want to watch with friends and then discuss the book afterwards. I would love that! If you choose this option I would love to Skype with your group at some point during our study.

Now, remember, these are vlog style videos so they aren’t professional quality. I’ll be coming to you straight from my living room. But I do plan to offer solid messages that run for 15-20 minutes.
